Today, was the 6th time I telephoned by Guide at 9 A.M in the morning. The last time I met him was on 14th May. I had hinted desperately on that day that our Report Deadline was approaching, and he called us in, thinking we were thinking of wrapping up our Internship…!! :) I guess this is what happens when your Guide is the Regional Head of the Department… :)
Every good thing has a flip-side. He’s a great Guide- he’s brilliant and he handles us really well. He makes us produce work that he uses in Client Presentations. The first time he actually sounded ‘irritated’ was when we replied to an email saying ‘asap’ after 3 hours- and asked us why on earth we didn’t put our phone No: s in the email!! :) The first time I heard that it’s wise to give out your number over email. :) (I put it in all my correspondence with him henceforth :)
My Guide hasn’t ratified us a Project Title yet, though he’s had us working plenty… I am sitting here, right now, imagining the various routes my Internship could take…thinking up possible Project Titles for myself and starting work on it…
Ideally, I should be blogging this tomorrow, ‘coz it may be the happy-ending befitting such a piece: He ratifies one of the many Titles we’ve mailed him, and gives us some direction we’re all excited about. I look back with a wry smile and think ‘Well, whaddya know? All that waiting, and calling turned out for the good. :)
This, is hoping… or a belief that it will, turn out well… for from where I see it: this is just a Lesson in Patience. Like someone just told me: ‘Well he sure knows you’re one tenacious person, now’. :) Sounds good. Maybe he’ll think I’m just right for a Junior Assistant at the end of this Internship, then. Maybe he’s just testing us. Maybe he is just really busy and really would like to meet with us, soon.
Time will tell. Meanwhile, I shall not speculate alone. I shall work. I end with another of my favourite mantras in Life: ‘When in doubt: Just keep going straight.’ :)
Touche’ people!! Good Luck to everyone who is in a situation even remotely similar to mine. You’re never alone!! :)
Rajeswari.
