Spirits are running high in the campus of Amrita School of Business...well the reason is simple (or is it????) companies have started coming to the campus already. The official Placement Week is decided to be Dec 3 - Dec 8 of 2007 but guess the companies are in a hurry!!!! We are expectin some by the end of October and beginning of November....I am not sure if that is good, bad or just that we are not ready...But one thing is certain that all the 116 of us, the feelings are those of curiosity, fear, anticipation, and pure TENSION. As even now most of us are not sure where we really stand in terms of preparations... I wont be surprised if some of us have not even started.
When I think of all this, its strange but I somehow find it difficult to believe that I have completed almost a year and a half at Amrita...and am now sitting for Placements. It's strange I feel so ignorant today, there is so much more I need to learn, so much more to understand, yet in less than 7 weeks I will be recruited to a position wherein i would responsible for some of the most important decisions of an organisation that could be much older than me!!!!
All this may seem absurd to many, but I dont know I am just feeling all these crazy things...I am not sure if this is normal, and dont know if this is just temporary...but this is happening!!!
I just want to ask my dear seniors who are today part of some of the most reputed organisations in India, how I and the rest of the batch could get over this and perform well in the upcoming Placements...which is coming all too soon!!!!
Love

Hey Meghz...
well to be very honest, Its good to be a bit alert (read:not tensed) as the D day is approachin. This i say cos at the chosen day it`ll be ur test of character & the true spirit in U that will get u that job & not just "gyan". Just be confident of what ur abilities are n be ready to substantiate ur resume.
The companies are not looking at "learned" ppl....they are lookin at ppl ready to learn & with an open mind!
My all Best wishes to `05-07 batch... Rock & make us proud!....
All asbians(`05-07) reading this

Hi Megha,
This is Hari from 2002-04. The most important preparation at this point is to decide which career you want to pursue. Coz once that is clear, you can choose the right company and then the ride becomes simple. The most common mistake ppl make here is to jump to any company for the sake of getting placed. But that, I think would be a mistake. Take time and choose the right career and then the company. Once yur thoughts are clear, you will come out with flying colors in your interviews also. So the only preparation you have to do is to decide yur career path, rest will take care of itself.
Just to give you a perspective, 95% of ppl leave the first company after MBA within 6months to a years time. I left in 3 months. :) ... Don't make that mistake. Take the right decision.
Cheers, Hari (09923538585), Accenture, Pune
